Broadcast - 2 January 2022
Happy Hogmanay to all! Well, actually it is the second day of the New Year but better late than never. Hopefully you were appropriately first footed by tall dark strangers, sank a respectfully moderate number of drams and have now on hand a potentially useful pile of coal clumps, environmentally unfriendly as they may now be regarded. In the words of that traditional Scots toast, “Lang mae yer lums reek!”
Probably the hardest part of the new year though is having to remember it is now 2022 and inscribe that fact on all documents etc. It does take a bit of getting used to and is something that annual practice doesn’t seem to make any easier. That said, hopefully 2022 will be kinder to us all but it is not looking that promising with the arrival and the increasing numbers of Omicron variant.
On with the news. It is still the holiday season, and the Club room has yet to reopen, so not much has changed, if anything. So, once again this week’s offering must be largely a repeat of coming events.
First though, to all those members who have not yet paid their 2022 subs, a reminder that you
officially became listed as unfinancial on the register yesterday, the 1st January. If you are in that boat, then this might be an appropriate time to remedy that situation. In case you have forgotten, NTARC’s 2022 membership fees are $40.00 for a Full voting member and $5 additional for each Family member that the voting member wishes to add to his or her primary membership.
If you are not a member of NTARC please consider joining. If you have been a member in the past but have let that membership lapse for any reason, please consider rejoining. Why not pop into the clubroom when we re-open on Friday 7th January, during coffee hours and collect an application or download one from our website. You will be made most welcome.
If club membership is not your cup of tea, we fully understand. In those circumstances, perhaps you might care to make a direct donation to our repeater fund, rather than pay a yearly subscription. If so, we would be happy to receive your contribution, either in person at a club meeting or coffee morning, or by post to PO BOX 275 Launceston 7250. Any donation will gladly be accepted. All donations will be officially receipted and noted accordingly against the repeater projects.

January General meeting – Saturday 8th January 2022. Meeting to commence at 14:00 hours (2.00pm). Afternoon tea will follow.
Club Tech night – Wednesday 12th January. Held at the NTARC Club rooms, 19:30 hours until whenever.
TestNet and TECHNET – Wednesday 19th January. TestNet/CW course on 3580 from 7pm till 7.30pm….and a TECHNET on 3567 from 7.30pm till about 8.30pm. Your host for the evening will again be Nic VK7WW.
FUTURE EVENTS - 2022
Annual General meeting – the Annual General Meeting of NTARC will take place on Wednesday 9th February 2022 at the NTARC Club Rooms, Rocherlea Scout Hall, Archer Street Rocherlea commencing at 19:30 hours (7.30 pm).
Business at the AGM will consist of confirmation of the Minutes of the 2021 AGM, then reception and consideration of reports from the Committee, including the Treasurer’s report and reports from our various managers and coordinators. This will be followed by the election of officer bearers and committee person for 2022. The meeting will then consider any item of special business for which the requisite notice has been received by the closing date of Friday 4th February.
All current office holder and committee positions fall vacant at the AGM. Nominations for each office bearer and the Committee member are invited and should be made in writing to the Secretary, along with the signatures of the Nominator, Seconder and that of the member nominated. Appointments will also be required to the positions of Internal Auditor and Public Officer.
Please note that for your convenience a nomination form will be available from the NTARC club room from Friday 7th January 2022, our first day of opening for the coming year, with nominations closing off at COB Friday 4th February.
Members are reminded that they will need to have paid their 2022 renewal subscription before the meeting commences at 19:30 hours (7.30 pm) to be able to vote at the Annual General meeting. Similarly, they will need to have paid their 2022 subscription before they can be nominated or nominate or second someone for office, as only financial members can exercise those privileges.
The AGM will be followed by the February General meeting.
It would be appreciated if all the NTARC Coordinators could start to think about their yearly report. Thank you to those that have already forwarded their report, it is very much appreciated. Just a subtle hint here to our Education, JOTA, QSL and Repeater Coordinators it would be greatly appreciated if you could put fingers to the keyboard and forward your report as soon as possible to the Secretary. Please also remember that your report needs to cover the reporting period 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021, nothing prior or since.
COFFEE MORNINGS – normally held every Friday in the NTARC Club rooms but we are in recess until Friday 7th January 2022. Catch up time will be from 10.00 am to noon and we look forward to seeing you all when we resume on that date.
These coffee events represent a good opportunity to collect your QSL cards. We currently have cards awaiting collection, so why not pop in and check the QSL box and join us for a cuppa and chat.
Just a friendly reminder, please demonstrate your appreciation of all the effort that goes into operating the club, its facilities and the other services we provide, especially in these abnormal and very trying times, enjoying the company, coffee, biscuits and cake, by leaving a gold coin or two, or even a small bank note, in the jar to assist in our on-going operations.
Christmas and New Year closure – in case you missed that last item or have forgotten, the NTARC Club rooms reopen on Friday 7th January 2022.
