Broadcast - 20 February 2022

Introducing your new NTARC broadcast reporter stepping into Yvonne’s shoes as NTARC Secretary. Yvonne is taking a well-earned rest from eleven years as Secretary and five hundred and sixty two Broadcast segments, yes you heard correctly, five hundred and sixty two segments!

I will endeavour to uphold the high standard of reporting we have come to expect.

This Friday morning tea saw a healthy attendance of twenty six members including a visit from Southern member Justin VK7TW, who dropped in for a coffee and a chat.

While we are on the subject of “stepping into people’s shoes”, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Phil VK7ZPD for taking over the hosting of the Wednesday night TechNet session, due to Nic having a previous commitment. A job well done Phil. Nic did leave us a little surprise in the form of a small single transistor Morse code beacon that he had constructed and left running. It’s output was a miserly one hundred and twenty odd milli-watts. However it soon became apparent that it was not limited in range, as Tony VK7LTD could receive the beacon in Hobart. This was just the start, as it was soon found that it could be picked up by Software Defined Radios in VK1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and New Zealand! A very good QRP achievement Nic.

2022 Membership renewals –a final reminder notice has been sent to those who haven’t as yet renewed their 2022 membership. Your membership for 2021 expired on 31 December and your name now appears on the membership register as an unfinancial member. It will remain as such on that register until renewed, or until 30 June, when your name must be removed if your annual subscription remains unpaid at that date.

In the interim, a reminder that NTARC’s 2022 membership fees are $40.00 for a Full voting member and $5 additional for each Family member that the voting member wishes to add to his or her primary membership.
